Hello everyone! My name is Joel Ramirez, AKA Rustic Minerals. I am a Navy veteran, career aircraft mechanic and experienced sheet metal technician. After leaving my corporate positions I discovered my interest in crystals, minerals, and fossils. I first started rock hounding and fossil hunting on the beaches near my home in Texas. From here I developed an interest in lapidary artistry and began making and distributing cabochons and small carvings. From here I began experimenting with wrapping them in sterling wire, a service I still offer. Growing up I spent time with my father in his silver and gold shop. When I was young it wasn’t something that really interested me, however after his passing I picked up his legacy working with silver. I now create, from scratch, silver jewelry, and cabochons, of my own designs and fabrication. My past career choices allowed me to develop my jewelry making skills quickly and it has become something that I truly enjoy.
